Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843)

Believed that a substance (drug) that induces symptoms in a healthy person will cure these same symptoms in a sick person.

Basis of ‘provings’- Hahnemann took such drugs to induce symptoms in himself and then used homeopathic dilutions of them to cure himself.

In addition, prescribing is based on the individual’s totality of symptoms.
